It’s time for a pen review of Pentel EnerGel X 0.5 mm Needle-Point pens!
What they say about the Pentel EnerGel X 0.5 mm Needle-Point
Where I bought them: I purchased my pens from JetPens, and I received them in a few days. Their turnaround is very quick, and I appreciate that.
As for the pens, I purchased the Black, Blue, Red and Violet (Purple) colors in 0.5 mm, but they also have other tip sizes in needle-point and regular point. These are all the color options for the 0.5 mm needle-point pens on the JetPens website:
Thoughts: The pens look similar to the Pilot G2 pens with the transparent body and cushion grip. They are retractable as well, which makes them very convenient if you need to jot things down quickly.
The needle-point tips are my favorite part. They allow you to write thinly and allows just enough ink to flow through - no blobs of gel ink running all over the page.
Writing is smooth without any skips or scratching.
Drying time is quick, because of the decreased amount of ink flow. If you need to highlight what you just wrote or if you’re left-handed (I am not), smearing is minimal (unless you’re super fast like Superman).
The ink runs out pretty quickly, but that is to be expected with any gel pen. I write A LOT, so I purchased ink refills for $1.25 each to keep my pens stocked.
